Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Bike: A Game-Changer in the Motorcycle Industry

Introduction

The Bajaj Freedom 125, the world’s first mass-produced CNG motorcycle, has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). This groundbreaking bike is set to revolutionize the two-wheeler market with its innovative features and cost-effective operation. Its world’s first CNG bike.

Dual-Fuel Capability

One of the most notable aspects of the Bajaj Freedom 125 is its dual-fuel capability. The bike is equipped with both a 2kg CNG tank and a 2-liter petrol tank, allowing riders to seamlessly switch between the two fuel sources at the touch of a button. This flexibility ensures that riders can take advantage of the cost savings offered by CNG while having the security of a petrol backup when needed.

Engine and Mileage

The Bajaj Freedom 125 is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 9.5 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque. In CNG mode, the bike has a claimed mileage of 102 km/kg, while in petrol mode, it offers a mileage of 65 km/l, providing a combined range of approximately 330 km (Bajaj Auto, 2024).

Seating and Suspension

Another standout feature of the Bajaj Freedom 125 is its long, flat seat, which measures 785 mm in length. This makes it the longest seat in its segment, providing ample space for both the rider and pillion. The bike’s suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork with fork covers and a linked monoshock, making it the first 125cc motorcycle to feature this configuration.

Features and Safety of Bajaj Freedom

The Bajaj Freedom 125 is available in three variants: NG04 Disc LED, NG04 Drum LED, and NG04 Drum. The top-end NG04 Disc LED variant features an all-new, negatively-lit LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity for call alerts and phone battery level indicators. Additionally, the bike comes equipped with a USB charging port and a dedicated button for connectivity. In terms of safety, the Bajaj Freedom 125 is equipped with a front disc brake and a rear drum brake setup, ensuring reliable stopping power.
