Indian Bike manufacturer Bajaj Auto is all set to launch world’s first CNG Bike on 5 July, 2024. Starting price of Rs 80,000 makes Bajaj CNG Bike a commuter bike. It comes in India in one high end variant price beginning from Rs. A 125 cc engine powers Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Bike. Its front and rear brakes are drum style and will weigh slightly less than other bikes.
The name of the Bajaj CNG bike is now known; it will be the Bajaj Freedom 125. Furthermore, the most recent teaser shows us more clearly the instrument cluster, body panels, and more. Before its gasoline tank, CNG/Petrol switch, CNG inlet and more was also hinted at on the bike.
Previous spy observations of the Bajaj Freedom 125 helped us to better appreciate the general riding stance and design of the bike. According to an earlier spy photo, the bike might come in two models: one looks to be more off-road inspired while the other is probably a retro-roadster.
Although mileage numbers are yet unknown, Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of Bajaj Auto, says the bike should cut running costs by half when compared to a petrol-powered cycle, which is really encouraging. Since CNG is less energy-dense than gasoline therefore it compromises some performance, the Bajaj Freedom 125 is most likely driven by a 125cc engine which will generate similar power statistics as a 100-110cc petrol-powered bike. Still, CNG is less expensive, so riding it will be more affordable.
The bike looks to feature a large, flat, single-piece seat that fits the long CNG cylinder beneath and boxy bodywork.
To access the CNG cylinder’s inlet valve, open a large flap on the fuel tank. Additionally included in the bike will be a little gasoline tank for limited home or emergency use. Presumably used to manually swap fuel options, the spotted CNG bike also has a digital display and a blue button on the left-hand side switchgear. It gives a calm riding posture and features a braced handlebar with knuckle protection, a toe gear shifter, and mid-set footpegs.
A telescopic fork and a rear monoshock equip the Bajaj Freedom 125. The bike includes a disc brake at front and a drum brake at back for braking. It also features a saree guard, a big tyre hugger, a crash protector at the front and an upswept exhaust.
Being the first CNG bike from India, the Bajaj Freedom 125 will be special on the market and without direct competition. It will compete, though, with other fuel-efficient bikes in the 100–110cc range such the Hero Splendor Plus, TVS Radeon, Honda Shine 100, and Bajaj Platina 110.
Apart from the Freedom 125, Rajiv Bajaj has also said that the brand is working on several other CNG bikes, including a somewhat more luxury one with extra features.
